It's become a fad to have a transvestite or a gay character in movies these days and make a mess of their presence and motive in the drama; not everyone comes up with a politically correct or an entertaining film. Anyone with a passing familiarity to the recent releases of this genre clichés will be able to shout every line along with the actors and also predict what the next move of the character would be. In Kanchana, Lawrence — the seriously over-rated actor — is a cross dresser and is committed to dole out some hysterically over-the-top dramatics. The script demands Raghava (Lawrence), a youth of marriageable age, to climb on to his mother's (Kovai Sarala) hip because he is a wimp and is paranoid of ghosts. But who's the ghost? To reveal the plot would be hurting prospects of Lawrence's ambitious dubbed plot that has a release over 250 theatres this week.

The film is awkwardly cobbled together with big shifts in character that comes with an explanation only in the last 20 minutes of the film. The character of the transvestite is more based on wishful thinking than plausible reality. Lakshmi Rai plays his sister-in-law's sister who is designed to fall for him at first sight. She is a model who believes in flaunting her skimpy loose designer wear at home in the mornings and sports a skin tight dress that barely allows her skin to breathe before she hits the bed at night. In this exceedingly loud film, the ghost horrifies the characters and the characters terrorise the audience. Kovai Sarala and Lawrence occupy the entire screen. Sarat Kumar makes a guest appearance that's not quite appreciated. With quite a few films opening this week, it shouldn't be hard to find a movie more appealing than this.

A new film titled Babloo is gearing up for its release on June 3.

Mano Tej is going to make his debut as an actor and the film also stars Aditi Sharma. Ravi Charan Reddy has directed the film and Guduru Jhansi Rani has produced it. Guduru Sivaramakrishna is presenting the film.

The film is said to be a family entertainer. The film narrates a story of how a couple solves few issues which their families face. Chakri has composed the music. Brahmanandam, Raghubabu, Venu Madhav play other roles in the film. Mayuri banner is releasing the film.

It is known that Naga Chaitanya is working for a film under the direction of Ajay Bhuyan. It has been titled as ‘Dhada’. Vogue Beauty Kajal Agarwal is the leading lady in the film. News is that filmmakers are planning to release the audio in July and film release in August. It is learnt that the film has been shot in USA, Bangkok, Manila so far and yet to complete the remaining part in USA and Europe.

Dhada is said to be a love cum action entertainer set in USA backdrop. There are six songs of which four songs have been shot in sets and two songs will be shot in Europe. Film shooting is expected to complete by this month end.

Naga Chaitanya is said to be appear in a full-time mass role in the film and, for the first time International fight master Pradit Seeluem from Thailand, has composed the action sequences for it.

The film comprises of Sriram, Samiksha, Brahmanandam, Ali, Rahul Dev, Mukesh Rishi, Kelly Dorge, Tanikella Bharani, Venu Madhav and others. Devi Sri Prasad is the music director.

It is well aware that DS Rao is planning to produce a film on the banner of Sri Sailendra Cinemas, under the direction of Ani with Manchu Manoj as hero and Kruti Karbandha of ‘Teenmaar’-fame and Sana Khan as heroines.

The film was also titled ‘Mr Nokia’ and the first look posters of the film were also released to the media on the occasion of Manoj’s birthday.

The film is coming up with a different concept. After noticing the first look posters and the concept of the subject of the film, famous mobile phones manufacturing company, Nokia had come forward to take the responsibility of the publicity of the film.

The Nokia mobile company would bear the expenses of the hoardings and other publicity materials and it would be free of cost for the producer.

Jagapathibabu and Priyamani starrer family entertainer 'Kshetram' shooting is on at a brisk pace. The movie unit will soon leave for Switzerland to shoot two songs for the movie.

G Govinda Raju and Y S Pratap Reddy are producing this film on Sri Balaji Movie Makers banner. T Venugopal is the director of the movie.

Tanikella Bharani, Kotasrinivasa Rao, Sutthi Velu, Aditya Menon, Manju Bhargavi et al are seen in this family drama.

Jagapathibabu plays the role of Veerasimha Rayulu while Priyamani's charecter is that of Nagapenchalamma.

"Jagapathibabu and Priyamani play roles that haven't been seen before in Telugu cinema. It is a semi periodic film with lots of action and sentiment. Their costumes and look in the film is very different. We will shoot a part of the film in Hyderabad in first week of July and then push off to Switzerland to shoot a couple of songs on hero and heroine"  producer Govinda Raju said.

Koti is the music director for this movie and Paruchuri Brothers pen dialogues for it.

Superstar Rajnikanth’s upcoming film, Rana seems to be in the eye of a storm because of the actors ill health. But the news is not getting shelved. Director KS Ravikumar said in a statement that he is disturbed after reports emerged that he is shelving the film after Rajnikanth fell ill.
“We have been getting some disturbing feedback about the film being cancelled. This is totally false. It is natural for people to fall ill and as our leading star is now not so well, we feel unpleasant about such rumours,” says the director.
The director says that Rajni is raring to go and will begin shooting for the film as soon as he is fit to do so. “Rana is Rajini Sir’s dream project and his brain child — hence he is very much keen on undertaking it and completing it. His ill health might have caused a minor glitch initially in the shooting plans but he is positive about recovering and getting back into action,” he adds.
But co-star Deepika Padukone’s shooting schedule continues is on course and she is expected to start shooting from July.
“We have Deepika’s dates only from post July. The shoot is postponed temporarily as we are awaiting Rajni sir’s complete recovery. He is on his way to a speedy recovery and we are now hopeful of releasing Rana the next year (2012),” he ends.

Nandamuri Balakrishna’s upcoming film in the direction of Paruchuri Murali has finally got a title. The tile Mahadeva Naidu has been registered in the film chamber by the producers. The film will see Balakrishna act in three different roles of three different generations.The film is slated to be a late summer release. M L Kumar Chowdary produces this film on Sri Keerthi Combines.
